“Reverse Engineering Charitable Gifts From Uncharitable Givers”
People that can make large planned gifts are usually by definition “successful”. However, estate planning is usually not a goal oriented process that feels like an accomplishment when it is over. In fact, estate planning is usually positioned as an avoidance process – avoid taxes, avoid litigation, avoid creditors, avoid probate. However, by redefining estate planning in new life-driven ways current wealth owners with no charitable inclinations can suddenly become very motivated philanthropists. This talk will demonstrate how a precise and intentional process of reverse engineering wealth transfers can generate new contributors, new contributions and new colleagues.
Raymond C. Odom is a Senior Vice President at Northern Trust – Chicago. He serves as National Director of Wealth Transfer Services in the Wealth Management business unit. Ray serves as a national subject matter specialist in wealth transfer planning and fiduciary product solutions. Ray works with regional wealth advisory teams and wealth strategists to provide valuable planning ideas to clients, prospects and their advisers. He is an acclaimed noted speaker on wealth planning and asset protection topics.
