Dr. Eddie Thompson holds a Doctorate of Education in Higher Education Administration from Vanderbilt University. His doctoral dissertation was on successful fundraising methods. His academic achievements include two Master of Arts degrees, a Bachelor of Arts, and an Associate of Fine Arts degree. He has served in many capacities with nonprofit organizations, including Assistant to the President, VP of Institutional Advancement, Director of Planned Giving, and Chief Executive Officer.

In Dr. Thompson’s presentation of Fundraising at its Best, he will share from his vast education and experience to discuss why some nonprofits are more successful in raising money than others, what these successful organizations are doing that causes them to generate above average results, and what their secrets to success are. “Values-based Estate Planning” (2016 ACGA Keynote Presentation) (11:30 a.m. – 1:00 p.m.)
In this session, Dr. Thompson is excited to bring his 2016 Keynote Presentation from the American Council on Gift Annuities (ACGA) to the Planned Giving Council of Middle Tennessee. Dr. Thompson will dive into the mind of our donors to help answer questions like, “Why does a donor give?” He will discuss what questions your donor must be able to answer before they will make a gift to your organization. He will discuss the differences between tactical gifts and strategic gifts, and review the trends we are seeing in gift planning today. (APPROVED FOR 1 CFRE)
