“The Soul of Charitable Gift Planning”
The session will address the people and events that shaped our professional values and practices and made us who we are today. Planners can meet the needs of donors and nonprofits more effectively when we are familiar with five major events that shaped the values and practices of our profession.
Presenter: Ron Brown New York, New York
Ron Brown, a graduate of Princeton University and the University of Chicago, has served as Director of Gift Planning for Princeton University, United Way of America, the National Wildlife Federation, Fordham University, and from July 2015 to the present, Senior Philanthropic Advisor for Gift Planning at Columbia University. He serves as a Board member, a member of the Rates Committee, and chair of the Research Committee for the American Council on Gift Annuities (ACGA); he wrote the national Gift Annuity Survey Reports in 2014 and 2010. He is a board member of the Philanthropic Planning Group of Greater New York and a member of the Planned Giving Advisory Council for the Lilly Family School of Philanthropy, the Planned Giving Advisory Committee for Princeton University, and the CANARAS Gift Planning Council.
Ron is a retired commander I the US Navy Reserve and has been decorated for research and writing while serving with the US Naval Historical Center. A past member of the Editorial Board of Planned Giving Today, Ron is a frequent speaker and resides in New York City.
